ACMA media release 3/2012 – 18 January
The Australian Communications and Media Authority is seeking public comment
on a proposal to vary the licence area plan for Brisbane Radio to change the
technical specifications of radio service 4KQ to reflect its current operating
Since 2007, 4KQ has been conducting a day/night transmitter power switching
trial in Brisbane on AM frequency 693 kHz from Wynnum Road, Wynnum West. The
results of this trial have seen a significant improvement in the coverage of
the 4KQ service into the Brisbane licence area.
As the trial has now concluded, the ACMA proposes that 4KQ be allowed to
adopt its day/night transmitter power specifications permanently.
