The methodology used to generate maps of digital television coverage areas and exclusion zones are provided for reference. All relevant documentation is included in the Public Consultation package. Note that there are now no exclusion zones in force as all licensed digital TV services have relocated out of the 700 MHz band.

Maps depicting predicted coverage areas of Block E digital television broadcasting and retransmission services, pursuant to Part 3.2(2) of Radiocommunications Advisory Guidelines (Managing interference from Transmitters - 700 MHz band) 2012 can be found in the above table.

Following the close of the 700 MHz Technical Liaison Group (TLG), a round of public consultation resulted in further development of the methodology to generate maps of digital television coverage areas and exclusion zones. All relevant documentation is included in the Public Consultation package.

Telstra and Optus 'early access' to 700 MHz spectrum

In  2013, the ACMA reallocated spectrum in the 700 MHz band to Telstra and Optus through the Digital Dividend Spectrum Auction. The associated 15-year spectrum licences are due to commence on 1 January 2015.

The ACMA recently made determinations enabling Telstra and Optus to apply for Public Telecommunications Service (PTS) apparatus licences to commence 4G mobile broadband services in advance of their spectrum licences commencing next year. The issue of these licences are subject to relevant pricing, licensing and technical framework requirements as outlined in the table below.
