Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence 2000

The Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence 2000 (the LIPD Class Licence) replaced the Radiocommunications Class Licence (Low Interference Potential Devices). The LIPD Class Licence was gazetted on 5 July 2000.

Since 5 July 2000, the former Australian Communications Authority (ACA) and the now Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) have varied this Class Licence 12 times:

  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2000 (No. 1) was signed by the ACA on 16 November 2000 and issued by publication in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 22 November 2000.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2001 (No. 1) was signed by the ACA on 20 September 2001 and issued by publication in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 26 September 2001.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2003 (No. 1) was signed by the ACA on 31 July 2003 and issued by publication in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 6 August 2003.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2005 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 18 August 2005 and issued by publication in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 24 August 2005.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2006 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 20 July 2006 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 25 July 2006.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2007 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 20 December 2007 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 3 January 2008.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation Notice 2008 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 18 December 2008 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 15 January 2009.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation Notice 2009 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 25 June 2009 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 30 June 2009.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2010 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 9 September 2010 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 15 September 2010.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2011 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 11 July 2011 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 27 July 2011.
  • Radiocommunicatins (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2013 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 19 April 2013 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 30 April 2013.
  • Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence Variation 2014 (No. 1) was signed by ACMA on 30 June 2014 and registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 7 July 2014.

The LIPD Class Licence authorises users to operate a wide range of low power radiocommunications devices operating in various segments of the radiofrequency spectrum. The LIPD Class Licence sets out the conditions under which many types of short range devices may operate. These conditions always cover frequency bands of operation and radiated power limits.

The Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence 2000, which incorporates the variations, is available.

There is also a policy information paper entitled Low Interference Potential Devices.
