Morse Code Signals

Introduction

Knowledge of Morse Code signals is not a requirement for candidates contesting an examination for the Amateur Operator's Certificate of Proficiency (Advanced), the Amateur Operator's Certificate of Proficiency (Standard), or the Amateur Operator's Certificate of Proficiency (Foundation).

Spacing and length of signals

  • A dash is equal to 3 dots.
  • The space between the signals forming the same letter is equal to 1 dot.
  • The space between 2 letters is equal to 3 dots.
  • The space between 2 words is equal to 7 dots.
